These are just a few of the things the API lets the user change. Using this API, the user can change a lot of things about how the encoding process works, like how many slices are split into, how active or passive rate control is set, how many codec blocks and transforms are used, and how many motion vectors can be used. It can quickly encode video in the H264 and HEVC formats. The Video Encode API can be used by third-party apps and is built into Windows 11. Microsoft has announced new DirectX12 API compatibility for Windows which will offer a new way for apps to efficiently encode video using the GPU.
